weekend getaway
|
|
Went over to Batam View for some couple-time. Original plan was to bring the two sons along but since one of them would rather stay at home, I left both of them at home.

chocolate chips muffins.
|
|
The moment I opened the door when ds came back from school today, he asked me " what did you bake today?" He could smell the aroma before I even opened the door for him. And he was smiling from ear to ear when I told him I baked chocolate chips muffins. Just like me , he love anything chocolaty!!! Thanks to Yati for sharing the recipe.

Kusu Island
|
|
One of the smallest island at the southern part of Singapore, it's praticaly deserted even on a Sunday. There's a Malay Shrine and a Chinese Temple with an interesting legend woven around them.A giant sea turtle is believed to have saved 2 shipwrecked sailors - a Malay and a Chinese from drowning. As an act of thanks, the two men built a chinese temple, a shrine and a gian turtle scrupture on the island. Taoist make annual pilgrimages to the Tua Pekong Temple and the Shrine during the ninth lunar month.
Stunning view of the mainland can be seen from the beaches and the hilltop. The warm water of the lagoon are ideal for swimming. A great getaway for the whole family, away from the hustle-bustle of city life.
To get there : Take the shuttle bus from the Harbourfront Interchange into Sentosa Island, and board a ferry from the Sentosa Terminal to Kusu Island, journey is about 40 minutes.

Roti Jala
|
|
One of the family's favourite, even though it's time consuming to prepare I enjoy making it for them.
Roti Jala
450 gm plain flour - sieve
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
a drop of yellow food colouring
1 large can of evaporated milk
2 1/2 cups of water.
1) Put flour and salt in a bowl. Make a well in the centre. Break eggs into the well and pour in the milk. Stir , drawing in the flour from the sides.
2) When the mixture is smooth, add the water and colouring. Stir well so that the batter is well mixed , then strain. The batter must be neither too thick not too thin.
To Fry
Heat a non- stick frying pan , brush it with a little bit of oil. When the oil is hot, using a jala cup pour the batter into the pan in circles till a lacy thin pancake is formed. Remove it as soon it is firmed. Repeat till all batter is used.
