Kacang Phool

Got this recipe from internet, just couldn't remember from who's site though.....but the recipe is definitely a keeper, since they family like it!

Kacang Phool

1 can of broad beans
200 gm of mincemeat
2 tablespoons of chili paste
2 tablespoons of meat curry powder
6 small onions – blend into fine paste
3 garlic – blend into fine paste
1 inches of ginger – blend into fine paste
1 piece of assam gelugor or assam keeping ( dried slices of tamarind fruit, not to be confused as the assam, which are normally mix with water and strained. .Refer to the picture below)
A handful of chop coriander leaves
Salt and oil

For garnishing:
1 onion – diced
2 tomatoes – diced
2 green chillies – slice
Sunny side fried eggs
3-4 limes

Method:
1) Heat some oil in the wok and sautéed the onion-garlic-ginger paste together with chilli paste till fragrance.
2) Add in the curry powder with a few table spoonful of water to prevent the curry powder from getting burnt, till oil floats to the top and the paste became thicken,
3) Add in the mincemeat, assam keping , salt and about ½ cup of water. When the mincemeat are cooked, add in the broad beans ( you can mash ½ of the beans if you like) and lastly the chopped coriander leaves.

To Serve: spoon the kacang phool into bowls and garnish with fried egg, sprinkle some diced onions, tomatoes, chillies and lime.

This dish is best eaten with bread, especially the French loaf.

Marina Barrage

View all 20 photos...
Built across the mouth of the Marina Channel, the Marina Barrage creates Singapore’s 15th reservoir, and the first in the heart of the city. With a catchment area of 10,000 hectares, or one-sixth the size of Singapore, the Marina catchment is the island’s largest and most urbanised catchment. Together with two other new reservoirs, the Marina Reservoir will boost Singapore’s water catchment from half to two-third’s of the country’s land area.

With the barrage in place, the Marina Basin will turn into a body of freshwater through natural flushing in one to two years. The freshwater will then be treated using advanced membrane technology before consumption.

View from the Marina Barrage

Local catchment water is one of the Four National Taps, with the other three being imported water, NEWater and desalinated water.

As one of the pillars of local water supply, Marina Reservoir will meet more than 10% of Singapore’s current water demand.

The Marina Barrage is part of a comprehensive flood control scheme to alleviate flooding in the low-lying areas in the city such as Chinatown, Boat Quay, Jalan Besar and Geylang.

During heavy rain, the series of nine crest gates at the dam will be activated to release excess storm water into the sea when the tide is low.

The side where the sea water is.

In the case of high tide, giant pumps which are capable of pumping an Olympics-size swimming pool per minute will drain excess storm water into the sea.

A great place for kids to chill out.

As the water in the Marina Basin is unaffected by the tides, its water level will be kept constant all year round. This is ideal for all kinds of recreational activities such as boating, windsurfing, kayaking and dragon boating etc.

the pump room that provides oxygen to the process water, it's too clean till there's not even micro-organism can survive there.

Since we're travelling with young kids, we decided upon the hotel with pool, just opposite the beach. The adult pool even have jaquzzi! We only paid about S$50 per night, inclusive of breakfast, since it's non peak period, but comes high season , the price doubled!

The rooms are spacious and clean, with balconies, but without lifts. Tak cerewet lah, sebab banyak hotel mid range kat sini kebanyakan nya agak jauh dari pantai, nasib baik lah dorang beri kita bilik di tengkat yang rendah.

Sementara orang dewasa masih lagi sedap tidur, mummy pun ajak lah dua anak sedara ni bermain di pantai yang terletak di depan hotel kami. Waktu masih terlalu awal, jadi kawasan pantai Patong ni masih tak ramai pengunjung nya. Sambil budak2 ni bermain pasir dan ombak, mummy pun sibuk lah menembak....

At Khai Nok Island, Phuket.

I don't mind setting up a home there, it's almost a paradise to me.....as long there's electricity, internet connection and someone to supply me with all the groceries! but the trip to this island is not something I look forward to, since it's about 1/2 hour speed boat ride away from the jetty and I get motion sickness!

anak sedara posing !

ikan2 tu tak gigit kaki, dorang cuma nak roti aje, pandai betul lah dorang ni.

mummy pun join sekaki nak posing dengan ikan

dorang ni dah tak payah suruh posing, pantang nampak camera mummy!

Warung tepi jalan

View all 7 photos...
Walaupun terdapat banyak restaurant yang menjual makanan halal di Patong Beach, Phuket, terdapat juga warung berkereta tolak yang berugama islam, mencari rezeki di sana. Nampak nya crepe/pancake menjadi kegemaran para pelancung disana.

Nak makan jagung bakar pun ada...

Ketika berjalan2 sambil cuci mata dan pocket, terjumpa pulak sorang mamat bangla sedang menjual roti prata/canai di depan sebuah hotel. Laku jugak nampak nya, walaupun pun tak diberi kuah kari.
